The Ballad of the Waterhead

Words & Music: Bobby Shiflett

When destiny was manifest
Those setting sons (of bitches) went and claimed the west
From one sea to shining sea
A new nation dedicated and conceived in liberty (I guess)

Waterhead! Waterhead!
When the dam breaks open we’ll all be dead
You can’t stop the waterhead
Because it would take
Too much money

“That’ll be twenty-five cents, please.”
“I mutter your muddah.”

I had a dream about Geronimo
The sun was sinking low over the Alamo
He told me how it used to be
When the world was wild and we were truly free

Waterhead! Waterhead!
When the dam breaks open we’ll all be dead
You can’t stop the waterhead
Because it would take
Too much money
