Plateau in Pastel

Music: Bobby Shiflett | Words: Gigi Grimes & Bobby Shiflett

I’ve traveled to these lands far through space and time
Danced through the first of death and I’ve come to clam what’s mine
I open up my eyes and the heavens roll away
Roll away
They roll away

I’ve crossed the Wall of China, walked the mountains of Tibet
Breathed the winds of the world and seen the sun rise and set
I have lived a million lives and done a million things
Now I sing
I live to sing.

The Sule Pagoda is lined in shades of gold
His hair more precious than all the jade that’s sold
The sun rises here like thunder on the bay
Mandalay!
Mandalay!

I’ve walked through Istanbul and seen the Golden Horn
I’ve seen the mosques and graves of wars that were not won
The clouds of heaven roll back to reveal the golden sun

The Blue Grotto caves I rowed once, in Capri
A blue, electric light in daytime can be seen
It seems the sun burst from underneath the sea
A sapphire dream
A sapphire dream.

I turned to Buddha to listen to him pray
Self-tamed by visions and speaking of decay
My soul in nothing, I became somewhat depraved
All the same..
All is the same

I’ve walked through Istanbul and seen the Golden Horn
I’ve seen the mosques and graves of wars that were not won
The clouds of heaven roll back to reveal the golden sun
