I’ll Show You Beauty

Words and Music: Bobby Shiflett

Why are we sitting here together?
I must have done something right, today.
Perhaps birds of a similar feather
Just hate to see each other go away

I’ve tried so many times to find the words
But that, too, is over said
So, for now, I’ll be a songbird
And tell you that I’m glad I’m here, instead

Isn’t it strange (that you thought you’d know me)
Isn’t it strange (won’t you let me be?)
Seems so strange (like a necromancer weaving spells.)
Isn’t it strange (when you looked in the mirror)
Isn’t it strange (that the stranger you saw)
Thought you knew me better than you knew yourself

I want to show you nicer things
Things I never let other people see
I’ll show you beauty, I’ll show you beauty
I’ll let you see the best in the worst of me

Isn’t it strange (that you thought you’d know me)
Isn’t it strange (won’t you let me be?)
Seems so strange (like a necromancer weaving spells.)
Isn’t it strange (when you looked in the mirror)
Isn’t it strange (that the stranger you saw)
Thought you knew me better than you knew yourself
