Days by the Bay

Words & Music: Bobby Shiflett

She drank freely of heaven
And swam in the dawn with me
I saw her in the tidal pools
Down by the sunny sea
She laughed all night in black towers
And rooms shown with wax and flame
And passed my wake-less hours
I don’t even know her name

I don’t even know her name

She was an unbridled mare
Silver in the moonlight
Silhouette against forever
Crashing waves at midnight
That dash against the rocks
Jagged, beautiful and bare
Tides surge underneath her eyes
And take us to where

We shall not return again
She will carry us away
Through stinging winds and deliver us
To the days by the bay

The days by the bay.
