Dance of Shiva

Words & Music: Bobby Shiflett
From 2004 Redux || Andrew Reid: Bass | Bobby Shiflett: Guitar, Vocals | Kenneth Shiflett: Drums || Recorded by Bob Russom at Gintown Graysville.

When Shiva does the dance, gonna bring your temples down.
Shiva wails for a lover, don’t want to mess around

When the girl puts on her costume, courts and seduces death.
An image waxen in the moon, formed from a fiery breath.

Aaaaa-oh away we go
Don’t look down at the fire below.

When you see Diana, don’t stand her way
She’s taking care of her children and has much to do, today

When Jesus takes his cross, courts and seduces death
A good man’s work is never done until his final breath

Aaaaa-oh away we go
Don’t look down at the fire below.

When Shiva does the dance, gonna bring my temples down
Shiva wails for a lover, don’t want to mess around

Went to Pandora’s chest, opened it and looked down
Just a worn out prayer book was all that I found All that I found.
…All that I found.

I originally wrote “The Dance of Shiva” as a companion song to “Will Hear.” I wrote both of these songs on a day in late spring of 1987.
